Business planning

How much territory fits your week?

A wider service area can mean more time between jobs. Compare the effect before deciding which places deserve more attention.

Discuss the area you want to reach

Start with the week you can deliver

Include time available for jobs and travel. Exclude administration and other commitments.

Three travel scenarios

With 30 hours available and 2 hours on each job:

Your current travel estimate
10 whole jobs per week
45 minutes of return travel per job; approximately 2.5 hours left.
30 extra travel minutes
9 whole jobs per week
75 minutes of return travel per job; approximately 0.8 hours left.
60 extra travel minutes
8 whole jobs per week
105 minutes of return travel per job; approximately 0.0 hours left.

This is a capacity illustration, not a demand or revenue forecast. It does not predict inquiries, bookings or search rankings.

Read the model as a planning constraint

The calculation divides available weekly hours by the time spent on one job plus its return travel. It rounds down to whole jobs. Each scenario adds either no extra travel, 30 minutes or 60 minutes to every job, while holding job length and available hours constant.

The example starts at 30 hours, two hours per job and 45 minutes of return travel. Those are editable illustrations, not estimates of a typical West Virginia business. Enter figures from your own schedule. If appointments vary widely, try a short-job week and a long-job week separately.

Leave space for what the formula cannot see

Weather, cancellations, overlapping routes, breaks and delays can change what is feasible. A real week may also combine nearby visits into one trip. The tool assumes one return journey for each job and does not account for those efficiencies or disruptions.

A spare hour is not necessarily a usable appointment. Use the comparison to ask whether a more distant inquiry is worth accepting, whether certain jobs justify longer journeys, and which places you want a campaign to emphasize.

Our local search service starts with the work and territory you can support. If you want to explain those limits more clearly on the website, a content brief can address the questions customers ask before booking.
